Our mission
Make solar and storage safe, approvable, and worth it.
We build systems that look clean on the roof, pass inspection without drama, and deliver measurable results over time.
Whether it’s a small residential system or a complex commercial project, our goal is the same:
reduce energy costs, reduce risk, and increase energy independence.
Craftsmanship
Roof interface, waterproofing, attachment, wire management — the details that separate “installed” from “built right.”
Engineering discipline
Clean drawings, accurate calculations, correct labeling, and a correction-response process that reviewers respect.
Energy strategy
Solar is step one. Storage and control are how you win on modern TOU and demand-based rates.
What we build
Residential solar + storage
Roof-mounted PV, batteries, whole-home backup, critical-load backup, EV readiness, and “TOU-first” designs
that shift energy into your expensive evening hours.
- Grid-tied systems with intelligent backup
- Storage-first designs for modern rate plans
- Service upgrades and main-panel solutions
Commercial solar + BESS
Commercial systems demand more than panels:
engineering, commissioning, safety documentation, and financial modeling that includes kW demand charges.
- Demand “peak shaving” with storage
- Load shifting to avoid TOU penalties
- Prevailing wage project readiness (where required)
We work with top-tier equipment and proven installation methods. When storage is part of the plan, we strongly favor safe,
modern lithium chemistries (like LFP) and clear, code-aligned installation practices.
The ABC Solar approach (why our projects don’t feel “random”)
Step 1 — Understand your goals
Most clients want a blend of:
bill reduction, backup power, EV readiness, and future expansion (ADUs, heat pumps, induction, pool, etc.).
We design around the real goal—not the generic “system size.”
Step 2 — Design to pass, then build to last
We treat plan check and inspection as a discipline:
clear drawings, correct labels, structural details, fire access considerations, and a clean correction-response packet.
Then we build the system the same way—methodically, safely, cleanly.
Our bias:
If you install solar in California today without thinking about storage and TOU, you’re leaving value on the table.
Storage turns solar into a controllable resource—especially when evening rates are high.
Bradley Bartz (Founder)
ABC Solar was founded by Bradley Bartz, an early adopter and builder at heart.
Brad’s career blends practical field experience with a deep interest in technology, systems, and the “why” behind regulations.
The result is a company that values both workmanship and documentation — because successful solar projects require both.
What Brad is known for
- Relentless attention to roof interfaces and installation detail
- Clear communication with plan checkers and inspectors
- Advocacy for homeowners’ right to install solar (especially against unreasonable barriers)
- A practical, real-world view of storage as the modern key to beating TOU
How that shows up on your job
- Design choices explained in plain English
- Clean conduit and serviceable layouts
- Permit packages that are complete and professional
- Systems planned for long-term reliability and expansion
Milestones
Here’s a simple timeline of how ABC Solar grew — and why it matters to today’s solar + storage decisions.
2000
ABC Solar Incorporated is founded in the Los Angeles area with a focus on solar electric grid-tie systems.
2009–2010
ABC Solar becomes visible in local and industry press during the early wave of modern rooftop solar adoption.
2010s
Expanded experience across diverse roof types, complex permitting environments, and commercial solar builds.
2020s
Storage becomes central: TOU rates and modern billing policies shift the best strategy toward batteries + self-consumption.
Why it matters:
Solar has changed. The best systems today are designed like a small power plant:
generate (PV), store (battery), control (inverter/EMS), and optimize based on your rate plan.
Where we work
ABC Solar is based in Torrance / South Bay Los Angeles and serves clients across Southern California.
We also support projects beyond the region when the scope, schedule, and logistics make sense.
Residential
Homes, townhomes, and select HOA environments (with Solar Rights guidance when needed).
Commercial
Warehouses, retail, industrial sites, and mission-critical loads — with batteries focused on demand reduction.
Talk with us
If you’re considering solar, storage, an ADU, or a commercial project, we’ll help you choose a system that actually fits.
Call or email — and if you can, send a recent electric bill and a few photos (roof + main panel).
